No. Many people begin therapy without a clear problem. They may just have a sense that something isn't quite right.
That is enough for us to start.
Yes. What you share during sessions is confidential and not shared without your explicit consent. The narrow exceptions, such as imminent risk of serious harm, apply to all registered psychologists and will be explained to you in our first session.
No. It is common for people to come with different understandings of what is happening between them.
We can begin by making space for each perspective and exploring what brings each person to therapy.
My role is not to be the judge of who is right or wrong. In my work with families and couple, my aim is to allow each person to share their experiences, without being judged. Together, we then help everyone examine the patterns underneath their interactions.
You may have already felt blamed before therapy, or worry you will be blamed at some point.
The focus of my sessions is not about assigning blame to anyone. It is about understanding what is happening and identifying what each person can take responsibility for.
Therapy cannot control another person's choices. We can, however, explore what is within your influence and what it may mean to move forward when another person does not change in the way you hoped.
Whether you're looking for family, couple or individual therapy, we can discuss your concerns and consider whether En is a good fit for you.
